Welcome to Stitch!
The Stitch Community was created to help anyone over 50 find the companionship they need, whether that's friendship, romance, or anything in between. The Stitch site and app combines activities, groups, forums, and the ability to meet and connect with other Stitch members for one-on-one communication.
If you're wanting to learn more about the goals, background, or makeup of the community itself, we recommend starting with the following articles on our web site:
But if you already know what Stitch is about and just want to learn how the site works, then you've come to the right place! This article gives a high level overview of how Stitch works, and the other articles in our Help Center give more details about all the questions you're likely to ask.
There are four main components to the Stitch site:
- Members, which let you browse and view the profiles of other Stitch members
- Community, full of local activities, events, groups to join, and discussions
- Your Messages, which is where you communicate with other members
- A bunch of other items such as member benefits, articles, settings and more
You can see each of these sections in the Stitch Top Menu as shown in the picture below:
The Stitch Community
The Stitch Community is built on the philosophy that the best way for you to find like-minded companions isn't to read what someone says about on their profiles, it's to interact with them in the real world about things that you enjoy doing, and see if you hit it off.
In other words, when it comes to making human connections, we're proudly old-school.
The submenu at the top of the Community page highlights the four main different components of the Stitch Community:
Join your local community group depending on where you live (e.g. Sydney's Northern Beaches group), or join groups based on your interests (e.g. the Stitch Book Club or the Fishing Enthusiasts group)
Local Activities & Events
Including group events you can attend, as well as activities you might just want to suggest to do with one other person
For discussions about topics that interest you as a way to find like-minded companions (our first marriage happened this way!)
Articles on how to get the most out of the Stitch Community can be found under "The Stitch Community" on the Stitch Help Center.
The next menu item in the top menu is Members. This is where you can view the profiles of other Stitch members one by one, and choose whether you would like to connect with them for a private conversation.
The Stitch Browse page looks like this (member details have been obscured for privacy purposes in the example below):
Articles on how to browse profiles can be found under "Browsing Profiles" on the Stitch Help Center.
Messaging Other Members
The next menu item in the top menu is your Messages. This is where you manage your communication with other members, and send and receive messages.
Articles on how to send and receive messages can be found under "Messaging Other Members" on the Stitch Help Center.
Account Settings, Member Benefits, and more
The last menu item in the Stitch top menu lets you access all the other features of Stitch, including:
