Getting too many emails from Stitch — or not enough? You're in the right place. You can control exactly which notifications Stitch sends you, all from one spot.
To get there, go to More > Profile & Settings > Notifications.
Here is what the Notifications page looks like:
Distance
Your Distance setting controls how far Stitch looks when deciding which groups and activities to tell you about. If you live in a rural area, you might want to hear about things happening 50 miles away. If you live in a city, you might only care about activities within 5 miles. Set the distance that works for your life.
Stitch uses your Distance setting to decide:
When to notify you about new groups created in your area
When to notify you about new activities posted in your area
Which activities appear at the top of the Activities page
Which groups appear at the top of the Groups page
Note: Your Distance setting applies to general notifications only. If you have joined a group, Stitch will notify you about every activity posted in that group regardless of distance.
Events and activities
These settings control how often Stitch notifies you about new activities in your area (defined by your Distance setting).
You have three options:
Every time an activity is created — Stitch sends you a separate notification each time a new activity is published. This setting is off by default.
Daily summary of new activities — Stitch sends you one daily email listing all activities published that day in your area. This setting is on by default.
Weekly summary of upcoming activities — Stitch sends you a weekly email listing activities coming up in your area that week. This is useful for activities you may have missed when they were first posted. This setting is on by default.
Each summary option has a separate toggle for local activities and community-wide virtual activities. You can turn these on or off independently — for example, you might want a daily summary of local activities but not virtual ones.
Note: These settings apply to general activities in your area. If you have joined a Stitch group, Stitch will notify you about every activity posted in that group, no matter where the activity is held.
Joining groups is a great way to get notifications about specific topics or locations you care about — for example, joining a comedy group in a city you visit regularly, or a bird-watching group that holds expeditions further afield.
New members
Stitch can send you a regular summary of new members who have joined near you.
Send me a summary of the new members who have joined near me — on by default.
Note: To control which members Stitch shows you in these summaries, go to your Profiles settings page.
Travel
Stitch can notify you about new and upcoming trips posted in your area.
Send me a summary of new and upcoming trips — on by default.
Discussions
Turn the Discussions setting on to receive a notification whenever a new discussion is posted in the Stitch forums. This setting is off by default.
Comments
Activities, groups, and discussions all have comment threads where members can talk to each other. You can choose to "follow" these conversations, which means you will receive a notification each time another member posts a comment.
By default, Stitch does not automatically follow a conversation for you when you join a group or attend an activity. If you post a comment yourself, Stitch will set you to follow that conversation automatically.
You can also choose to receive an email when someone likes one of your messages or comments. Toggle Email me when someone likes my messages or comments on or off in the Comments section.
You can change whether you follow a conversation at any time by selecting the follow or unfollow link at the top of the conversation.
If you want to stop following all conversations at once, use the Unfollow All button on the Notifications page.
Important: Activity announcements work differently from regular comments. When an organizer posts an announcement on an activity, Stitch notifies every attendee — whether or not they are following the conversation. Regular comments only notify members who have chosen to follow.
Other notifications
Some Stitch notifications cannot be turned off because they are essential to how the platform works.
When someone wants to connect with you
If another member likes your profile or sends you a message request, Stitch will send you an email. These notifications cannot be turned off.
When someone sends you a message
Every time a member sends you a message, Stitch will send you an email notification. These notifications cannot be turned off.
Note: Connection and message notifications are always active. They exist to make sure you never miss someone reaching out to you.
