If you've been asked to enter a verification code when signing in on a new device or browser, this is part of how Stitch keeps your account secure.
Stitch is a community built on trust — members share personal details, meet in person, and rely on each other. Protecting your account isn't just about keeping your own information safe; it helps protect the people you connect with too. A compromised account can be used to mislead or take advantage of other members, which is why Stitch takes account security seriously.
Even with a strong password, accounts can be at risk. Password leaks, data breaches, and reused credentials mean someone else could have your login details without you knowing it. Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second layer of protection — so even if someone has your password, they still can't access your account without the verification code sent to you.
When you sign in to Stitch on a new device, you'll be asked to confirm it's really you by entering that code. You'll only need to do this once per device — after that, signing in works as normal.
How does two-factor authentication work?
When you sign in to Stitch on a new device, Stitch sends a verification code to up to four places simultaneously:
Your email address
Your phone via text message
A pop-up notification on any devices already signed in to Stitch - In-app notifications within the Stitch app
Enter the code you receive and tap Submit to complete sign-in. The screen will look similar to the example shown below.
Note: Once you complete two-factor authentication on a device, you won't need to repeat it on that same device.
What if my phone can't receive text messages?
If your phone cannot receive text messages, select **Get another code** and choose Call me. Stitch will call your phone and read the verification code aloud.
What if I still haven't received my code?
If you have not received a code by text message or voice call, you can use the code sent to your email address instead. Check your spam or junk folder if the email is not in your inbox — email filters sometimes move Stitch notifications there.
If you are already signed in to Stitch on another device, your verification code will also appear there as a pop-up notification.
Important: If you miss the sign-in prompt, you can find your current verification code in the Stitch app at any time.
To find it:
Open the Stitch app.
Select the More menu in the top right corner.
Select Profile and Settings.
Select Account Information.
Your verification code is displayed on this screen. Enter it on the sign-in screen to complete verification.
