Want to reach out to a fellow Stitch member? Sending a direct message is a great way to connect one-on-one after meeting in an activity, group, or discussion. If you are on the free Limited plan, messaging restrictions apply - see the section below for details.
How to send a direct message
To send a direct message to a Stitch member, follow these steps:
Find the member on Stitch - for example, in the comments on an activity, in a group, or in a discussion.
Click their profile picture to open their profile page.
Click the Message button near the top of their profile, next to More.
Type your message in the box and click Send.
Your message sends immediately and the conversation appears in your Stitch inbox. The recipient receives an email letting them know, and your message shows up with a red badge on their Messages icon and a New flag on the conversation.
Messaging limits for Limited members
The Limited plan (also called Public membership) is Stitch's free membership tier. Limited members can send and receive messages, but there are restrictions on starting new conversations.
Limited members can start a new conversation with:
Any member who messages them first (you can always reply).
The host of an event they're attending.
The owner of a Public Group they've joined.
Outside these cases, starting a new conversation is for Full members only.
Note: Verification status - whether your account is verified or not - is separate from your membership tier and doesn't affect this limit.
For the list of messaging rules, see the Messaging limits for Limited members article.
To send direct messages without these restrictions, upgrade to a Full membership - Basic, Standard, or Plus plan. To upgrade your plan, go to More > Membership.
To compare what each plan includes, see About Stitch membership plans and pricing.
