Choose who can attend your Stitch activity

When organizing a Stitch activity, you control who gets invited and who can attend — the whole community, a specific group, or a private list you manage yourself.

When you create an activity on Stitch, you decide who gets invited and who can attend. This article explains each option so you can pick the right setting for your activity.

During the activity creation process, you will see an invitation settings page like the screenshot below.

Who would you like to invite?

At the top of the invitation settings page, choose one of the following options:

  • The entire Stitch Community — your activity is open to all Stitch members.

  • Members of a Stitch Group — your activity is shared with a specific group first, then opened to the community.

  • Nobody (private activity) — you add attendees manually after publishing.

Each option is explained in detail below.

Inviting the entire Stitch Community

When you choose this option, your activity is open to all Stitch members. Stitch will list the activity on the Activities page and include it in daily and weekly notification emails.

Who can click Attend?

By default, your activity is open to Full members and new members (members verified in the last 30 days). This default setting helps welcome newer members to the community.

To change who can register as an attendee, select the Advanced link on the invitation settings page. The following options will appear:

  • Full Members Only — only Full members of Stitch can attend.

  • Full Members + New Members — Full members plus members verified in the last 30 days. This is the default setting.

  • Any verified Stitch member — any verified member, including both Full members and Limited members.

  • General Public — Stitch members can bring a non-member guest.

Note: If you select General Public, guests must be invited personally by a Stitch member attending the activity. The member should contact the activity host in advance to let them know a non-member will be attending. If you are hosting, it is best practice to let other attendees know that a non-Stitch member will be present.

Setting a maximum number of attendees

To limit how many people can attend, update the number in the Max. total attendees field on the activity creation page.

Inviting members of a Stitch Group

Choosing this option sends an instant invitation to every member of the Stitch Group you select. Group members get priority notification — one of the benefits of belonging to a group.

Your activity also opens to the wider Stitch community, so any member can attend, not just group members.

Making your activity private

A private activity is only visible to the people you invite. Stitch will not list it on the Activities page or include it in notification emails.

After you publish the activity, add attendees manually by searching for members from your activity management page.

Note: Private activities do not appear in community searches or notifications, so members will only know about your activity if you invite them directly.
