Stitch discussions come in two types, and choosing the right one shapes how other Members can engage with what you post. This article explains the difference and shows you how to switch your discussion type.
General Community Discussion
General Community Discussion is the default type for all new discussions on Stitch. These discussions are open to everyone in the community and must be constructive and inclusive in tone. Comments that are divisive or argumentative don't belong here.
Note: All discussions must comply with the Stitch Community Guidelines, regardless of type.
Debate & Discussion
Debate & Discussion is designed for topics that are naturally more contentious — such as politics or religion — where a more argumentative or spirited exchange is expected. Members choosing this type are signalling that the conversation may involve disagreement.
Important: Debate & Discussion posts must still comply with the Stitch Community Guidelines. Choosing this type does not remove the requirement for respectful conduct.
How to switch your discussion to Debate & Discussion
All new discussions start as General Community Discussions.
To switch your discussion to Debate & Discussion:
Open your discussion on Stitch.
Go to the Settings tab.
Find the Debate & Discussion toggle and turn it on.
Your discussion type updates immediately.
You can confirm the change from within the Discussion tab, where the text at the bottom confirms the current type:
"This is a General Community Discussion, which means all comments must be constructive and inclusive.", or
"This is a Debate & Discussion topic, which means divisive debate is permitted as long as it still complies with the Stitch Community Guidelines."
Note: You can switch a discussion's type at any point, even after members have already commented.
