Most activities only need one organizer, by default this is the person who created the event or group — but sometimes an event is hosted by a group of people, or life gets in the way and you need a hand. If you're organizing a Stitch activity or group, you can appoint co-organizers to share the load, or transfer ownership to someone else if you're no longer able to attend.
Important: The person you want to appoint as a co-organizer or new owner must already be an attendee of the activity, or a member of the group. If they haven't joined yet, ask them to join first.
Note: If your activity is listed as a suggested activity, you must set a date and venue to turn it into a confirmed activity before you can assign co-organizers or access advanced management features.
Add a co-organizer
On Stitch, a co-organizer can block and remove members and appoint additional co-organizers — but only the owner can transfer ownership.
To add a co-organizer to your activity or group:
Open the activity or group page.
Click the Attendees tab to see the full list.
Next to the member you want to appoint, select the three-dot menu (⋮).
Select Add as organizer.
To confirm the change was successful, open the participant list and check that the member now has the blue Organizer badge next to their name.
Note: Some organizer features — including assigning co-hosts — are only available once your activity has been reviewed and published by the Stitch team, or if you hold a paid Stitch membership.
Transfer ownership of an activity or group
If you can no longer attend or manage an activity or group, you can transfer ownership to another member.
To transfer ownership:
Open the activity or group page.
Click the Attendees tab to see the full list.
Next to the member you want to make the new owner, select the three-dot menu (⋮).
Select Make owner.
Important: Once you transfer ownership, you will no longer be the owner of the activity or group. The new owner will have full management rights, including the ability to appoint co-organizers and transfer ownership again.
Remove a member from an activity or group
As an owner or co-organizer, you can remove a member from an activity or group when needed — for example, if a member has asked for help leaving and can't find the option themselves, or to help ensure a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Members can remove themselves from a group via the group details page, but if someone needs a hand, you're able to do it on their behalf.
To remove a member:
1. Open the activity or group page.
2. Click the Attendees tab to see the full list.
3. Next to the member, select the three-dot menu (⋮).
4. Select Remove from event or Remove from group.
Note: Removing a member does not prevent them from rejoining. If you're removing someone at their own request because they couldn't find the option themselves, let them know they can rejoin if they change their mind.
Block a member from an activity or group
For a full overview of your options — including blocking members from direct messages, events, and groups — see Blocking a member.
If you want to block a member specifically from a group you own, you can submit a block request from the member's profile. The Stitch team will review the request and contact you with the outcome. Note that a group block sends the member an automatic notification, so consider using the 'Do not invite' or event block options first if those may be sufficient.
Note: If you believe a member is violating the Stitch Community Rules & Guidelines, reporting them — rather than blocking — allows Stitch to assess whether they should be removed from the community entirely, protecting all organizers, not just you.
