If you've registered to attend a virtual activity on Stitch that is hosted by Zoom, at a minimum you will need to download and install Zoom before your event.

But we also strongly recommend you enable one additional setting beforehand, to make sure your audio connects automatically at the start of the event.

This will help you avoid the slightly awkward period at the beginning of the event when Zoom prompts you to enable your audio. Until you do, no other participants can hear you. Zoom has a setting to enable it to connect to audio automatically, but unfortunately it needs to be manually enabled.

This article explains how to ensure Zoom connects to your audio automatically, with instructions for both:

  • Computers & desktop devices, and

  • Mobile devices

Automatically connect to audio on your computer

If you are using your computer to connect to your Stitch Event on Zoom, follow these steps to automatically enable your audio.

Open the Zoom app, go Settings, then select Audio.

Tick the box that says “Automatically join computer audio when joining a meeting" as in the image below.

Automatically connect to audio on your mobile device

If you are using a mobile device such as a phone or tablet to connect to your Stitch Event on Zoom, follow these steps to automatically enable your audio.

From the Zoom app, go to Settings, then Meetings.

Select the option that says “Auto Connect Audio” and choose "Wifi or Cellular Data".

More information about auto-enabling your audio on Zoom can be found here.
