Why completing your Stitch profile and getting verified is so important

Your Stitch profile is where you reveal a little about yourself with the rest of the community.

It’s a simple and quick way of sharing a little piece of yourself, helping other Stitch members to easily get to know you and identify interests you have in common.

Read the below article to discover how you can complete your Stitch profile. Alternatively, watch this short video:

As part of completing your profile you will be asked to:

  • Upload a recent photo of yourself
If you need help choosing or uploading your photo, this article will help you do just that.

  • Write a short description about yourself
This is where you can write about your hobbies, your family, your work and about your upcoming holidays. The minimum requirement is only 100 characters, so it doesn't need to be much -- that's only a 1-2 sentences! But of course the more you write, the better.

To complete your profile, go to the Profiles page on Stitch and follow the prompts.

Here are a few reasons why it's so important for you to complete your profile on Stitch:

  1. Attending events and activities
Stitch events & activities are organized by other Stitch members, who need to be able to recognize and welcome the members who turn up at their events.

If you put yourself in their shoes, you can imagine how difficult it can be for an event organizer to welcome other members if they don't know what they look like!

That's why we let members only attend one Stitch event before they need to complete their profiles. It's OK to come to one event without a profile, as that's often the best way to learn about the community and find out what it's all about, but after that the system will prompt you to complete your profile before you attend any more events.

  2. Getting verified
The Stitch verification process is what keeps the Stitch community safe and free of fraudsters and scammers. It's a fundamental part of Stitch and you can read about why it's important here.

If you don't complete your Stitch profile, you can't get verified. And this in turn means you won't be able to communicate with other Stitch members, attend Stitch events, or be a part of the Stitch Community.

  3. Connecting with other members
Finally, even if you're not interested in attending Stitch events and activities, and just are hoping that other members will reach out to you and connect for one-on-one companionship, whether that's friendship based on your interests or even romance (if that's what you're looking for), none of that will happen unless you complete your Stitch profile.

Once you complete your profile and get verified, you can communicate freely with other members of Stitch.
