For an overview of how payments for Stitch events and activities work, along with the rules and guidelines for both organizers and attendees, please refer to the help articles in the collection "Payments for Stitch Events & Activities".
Stitch uses the global payment processor Stripe to collect membership payments from all our members around the world. Stripe Connect is a new feature we have added that allows Stitch to send payments to individual member bank accounts.
Before you can start accepting payments for hosting ticketed events, you will first need to set up your Stripe Connect account. Please note that only members who have earned the trusted Community Champion badge are eligible to take payments from other members through the Stitch platform.
Having a Stripe Connect account will allow you to manage your payment settings and track payments and payouts.
Setting up your Stripe Connect account
From the More menu inside Stitch, select Profile & Settings. If you are eligible to host ticketed events, you will see an option called Payment Settings.
Select Payment Settings, then Account Information. If you haven't set up a Stripe Connect account yet, Stitch will now run you through a set of questions to help you set up your account.
First, you'll be asked whether you are creating an account for Personal or Business use. If you use Stitch for business purposes, or the bank account you will be using is registered to a business, select Business at this step. Otherwise, choose a Personal account. You will be able to change your account type at any time.
Next, you will need to agree to both Stitch and Stripe’s Terms of Service. Be sure to read the following agreements carefully as they cover your rights and obligations relating to accepting payments through Stitch:
Entering your Stripe Connect account details
Stitch will now direct your application to Stripe, where you will create your Stripe Connect account. Stripe will ask you for personal and payment details to allow Stitch to send payments to you through Stripe.
Please know that the payment information you provide is stored securely by Stripe and cannot be accessed by Stitch.
Whether you have elected to create a Personal or Business account, you will need to provide your email address and phone number. A code will be sent to your phone to verify your number.
After this point, Stripe will ask you a number of questions to verify your account with them. The questions you are asked will vary depending on whether you have nominated that you will be using a Personal or Business account, but may include:
Legal name
Email address
Date of birth
Home address
Phone number
Bank account details
Type of business (if applicable)
Business identification number (if applicable)
Stripe may also ask you to verify your identity in order to confirm you own your account. (In the case of a business account, this may include collecting information about anyone who owns more than 25% of the business in question, along with disclosing the names of any directors, executives, or senior managers who have significant responsibility for the business.)
If your Stripe Connect setup is successful, you’ll be directed back to Stitch. You will now be able to charge a fee for any future events you post on Stitch.
